Subjects of moss growth and adherent algae to the marine vessels body are one of the major problems that have a heavy economic cost. Hard and soft mosses cause the increasing in weight, expanding in friction with the sea level, increased fuel consumption, reducing in speed and maneuverability, damage to the body and many other side effects. In this study, a new type of biocompatible and antifouling coatings with epoxy based containing nanoparticles of zinc oxide are made on the part of the ra'ad 40floating body. Parts of the vessel were covered and the corresponding half as the control wasn’t coated. The vessel was used under operating conditions and maneuvers in the Persian Gulf for 2 months and was suited in a fixed position suitable for moss growth. Superficial examined and compare the results of the control surfaces to coated one demonstrate the high-performance of nanocomposite coatings in growth prevention of Barnykle hard shelled algae and also significantly reduce the volume of soft moss in the adhesion of the coating of the body surface.
