Benchmarking is the planned and structur4d search for industry best practices and procedures, which can lead to superior competitive performance. Organizations that introduce the process correctly can use it to make a quantum leap in their performance and develop a culture in which manager and staff constantly search for improvements.
Within logistics specifically, benchmarking processes can be used for a number of different purposes: from assessing the performance of the entire operation, through prioritizing improvements, to searching for off-the-shelf improvement strategies in a specific area of a logistics activity.
