Information revolution and advent of modern organizational relations types, and increase of customers expectations regarding costs of products and services, quality, delivery terms, technology and commitment period according to increasing competition in global markets and so on, are amongst the factors that lead to the change in traditional systems of purchase and procurement and move toward modern systems of supply chain management. Researchers and experts are trying to know how knowledge resources are effectively collected and managed in order to be used as competition advantages. So before implementing knowledge management plans, supply chain system needs assessing organizational relations and existing resources in order to identify their most important and appropriate knowledge management strategy.
In this research, a model is presented to assess formal and informal organizational relation impacts on knowledge management sharing in supply chain network, and three variables including: formal relations, informal relations and relation risk on knowledge sharing in supply chain area will be evaluated. For this purpose, a scholar made questionnaire was distributed among 100 SAPCO managers and experts. Then the results have been analyzed.
Results and findings of the research show that supply chain members want to reduce risk, and to share management knowledge, in order to gain competition advantage that is its final goal.They do it by making use of advantages resulted from formal and informal effective organizational relations. Moreover, reduction of relation risk has a positive and meaningful effect on quality and flow of knowledge sharing in supply chain.
